Effective June 1, 2005 all incoming families will be required to complete ten hours of adoption-related courses. Special Delivery International is proud to join with Adoption Learning Partners in bringing you the highest quality adoption courses offered online. According to Adoption Learning Partners, the courses are designed to involve you in the learning process by placing you in the types of situations you encounter in your everyday life and give you new ideas for how to handle these situations with confidence. Each course provides instruction, interactive exercises and extensive resource lists for further exploration and support. Additionally, in the section called Adoption Stories, personal life reflections of adult adopted persons and adoptive parents are shared to bring real life relevance to each subject.

You can learn more about Adoption Learning Partners and the courses offered by visiting www.adoptionlearningpartners.org. This website offers several courses to choose from including the course required by Special Delivery International, “Eyes Wide Open”. Also recommended are “Journey of Attachment” and “Conspicuous Families”. The cost for each is $25.00, but it may only take one course to complete your ten hours. After you have completed the course you should be provided with a certificate.

Once you have completed the course you are required to provide Special Delivery International a copy of the certificate of completion. If you are using another adoption agency, and they are providing you training that equals to at least ten hours of adoption education, you can use those training hours, but we will need a copy of any documentation of the training that you attended.
